Resumen

Con base en la teoría de recursos y capacidades, que busca identificar el potencial de la empresa para establecer ventajas competitivas, este artículo explora un nuevo modelo de vinculación de tiempo completo de potenciales sucesores a la empresa familiar (ef): el modelo iei (internal, external, inside). En este modelo, el potencial sucesor deberá trabajar  deliberadamente de tiempo completo en la ef, para luego salir a tener experiencia externa y, posteriormente, regresar a la empresa de la familia. La investigación explora la importancia del modelo iei en la ef, con un estudio de caso de una mediana empresa colombiana. Los resultados muestran que este modelo puede considerarse como otra alternativa de vinculación de descendientes en ef, y deriva en proposiciones que habrán de ser contrastadas en investigaciones posteriores.
