Micro-insurance policies are the opportunity to revisit the insurance policy social function. The article presents a research on the economic and social functions of the insurance policy, the concept of micro-insurance and its own features as well as those which are not, to specifically deal later with the social function of the insurance policy. To draw that conclusion, we say that by understanding what is what is not the “micro” feature of the insurance policy we can rapidly understand as well our statement about micro-insurance as one of the most visible expressions of the social function of the insurance policy.
