Abstract

This article examines the situation experienced by Colombia during the electoral competitions of the months of February and May of 1931. Elections and bipartisan political violence made up the dynamic of the country during the first half of 1931.

Within this essay, the electoral legislation created to confront the voting process of that year is examined; the results of the elections of February and fo may are studied together with the situation of violence experienced is distinct regions of the country. The article contains a section whereby the reader can study editorials presented of liberal and conservative spokerpersons, together with some documents from the General Archive of Colombia.
