Abstract
The history of electric power in Colombia and its planning has numerous milestones, which have produced changes in the State’s organization and function paradigms regarding energy provision. Such transformation and expansion innovations have had both positive and negative effects on market price fluctuation, especially in the prices traded at the Energy Stock Exchange, implying that agents in this market face investment risks, which produces a resource allocation imbalance and in turn triggers financial instability. This paper characterizes the stock price at the Colombian Energy Stock Exchange, becoming an important basis to design and apply investment strategies for any business agent trading energy at the stock exchange, as well as pondering new strategies directed to future markets that will allow significant investment risk reductions.
