Abstract

After giving some examples of the expansion of media visibility, the article addresses the issue of how large multimedia empires are created —connecting and associating Tokyo and Los Angeles to a slow change in the trends of global communication—, as well as the introduction of new audiovisual production poles into the East and Latin America. The authors discuss the trend in audiovisual media towards sensationalist dramas that border "gawking and also how the individualized autonomy of internet surfers has overlapped unidirectional mass communication.
