From the analysis of the psychological processes of understanding, this paper seeks to show how philosophy in the second Wittgenstein consists, first and foremost, of the description of particular items.
This study is divided into two parts. In the first one, argumenta are given wihch make it obvious that a definition of the term "understand" is impossible. In the second part, some instances are studied which reveal the tendency to explain the phenomenon of understanding as a mental process, a grave error in Wittgenstein's sight.
This text meant to be an example of the philosophical method proposed by Wittgenstein, and not a mere attempt to point out the problems inherent in it.
