Abstract
En el presente estudio se propone el diseño de corredores ecológicos y zonas
de amortiguamiento como medida para la ampliación y restauración de la
conectividad del hábitat de la especie cinegética Cuniculus paca en el centronorte
de la provincia de Manabí, situada al occidente del Ecuador. La metodología
empleada, resultado de modificaciones de la propuesta de Bentrup (2008), se
sustentó en el análisis de parámetros geográficos que definen zonas con la mejor
aptitud territorial para el hábitat de la especie. Asimismo, el estudio se basa en un
análisis de costo que, mediante un Sistema de Información Geográfica, permite
definir la potencial ubicación de los conectores funcionales. De ese modo, el
modelo proporciona información fehaciente que permite proponer con exactitud
el trazado de los corredores y las zonas de amortiguamiento. Como se observará
oportunamente, la metodología empleada puede ajustarse para otras especies.
