Abstract
Este ensayo examina una serie de imágenes verbales de objetos de arte visual (ékfrasis icónicas) en el Poema heroico a San Ignacio de Loyola. Duarante más de cuatro décadas, este poema se ha leído como ejemplo de una estética de contraconquista, o bien como texto elitista y occidentalista. El presente estudio revalúa la colonialidad de este poema al identificar en sus ékfrasis un model de mirar que hace que el lector "vea" de manera contraria dos de los mitos que han apoyado el imperialismo occidental. Aquí se sugiere que los íconos del Poema heroico ayudan a profundizar nuestro entendimiento de la colonialidad latinoamericana al revelar, entre ciertos escritores criollos, una suerte de epistemología colonial fronteriza que difiere tanto del modo de saber indígena como del modo de saber europeo del colonizador.Cuadernos de Literatura is registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
