Abstract

The objective of this article is to present the results and scope of the research experience "Social valuation", which consisted of a socio-territorial recognition of populations affected by urban renewal projects. We propose a new valuation methodology as a tool to intervene and claim collective rights for the population itself. In the context of high-impact urban projects in residential areas where the population faces the possibility of massive displacement and the ensuing vulnerability condition, we propose social valuation as an instrument for the comprehensive assessment of property and the collective social fabric. This valuation technique becomes an alternative to land ownership, which raises visibility for the intangible values socially constructed into the territory. This document describes the methodology and relevant findings of the application of the application of social valuation in the Veracruz neighborhood of the district of Fontibon in Bogota, which was affected by the concession of the Eldorado Airport.
