Abstract
La ciudad de Quito ha registrado un incremento demográfico importante en los diez últimos años en base a procesos de migración interna. La situación de las personas que llegan a la ciudad no siempre es la óptima, y las condiciones a las que acceden a su derecho a una vivienda propia son precarias y están envueltas por lógicas informales que constantemente victimizan a las capas más pobres de la ciudad de Quito. La constante en la ciudad no son las invasiones, sino las lotizaciones irregulares en las que los habitantes han pagado por los terrenos en los que construyeron sus casas, sin embargo en muchos casos no han logrado un título de propiedad. El municipio de Quito ha tomado cartas en el asunto y entró en un proceso de regularización intensivo que ha rendido buenos frutos, sin embargo queda mucho trabajo por hacer para evitar la expansión de lotizaciones irregulares y para asegurar vivienda digna a todos los ciudadanos que viven y que vivirán en el distrito.
