Abstract
The article contains some of the results of a graduation work developed to inquire about the relations that may exist between social capital and personal security. Among those results, some have been selected due to their relevance to urban life welfare and are presented bellow. Those elements are: the constitutive elements of social capital, their positive influence on people’s life quality, the status of the right to personal security in the national and international ambits, the logics behind the personal security public policies implemented by local governments, the relations that exist between social capital and personal security and those in fact detected in the zones where the program “Frentes de Seguridad Local” works, as well as the capacity of that program to create social capital and to augment the levels of personal security.
