Abstract

The objective of this article is to present the course of the urbanization, the configuration of the economic structure and the dynamics of the local real estate market of Villa Lugano and Villa Riachuelo neighborhoods. Both are located in the south of Buenos Aires city and understanding its urbanization process allows to understand in a better way the processes that explain, in part, the current physiognomy of the city. The work relies on previous investigations and archival material on the process of urbanization and the history of both neighborhoods, interviews with key informants (officials and leaders of community organizations) and secondary data sources.
