Abstract
Este trabajo presenta una controversia sobre la forma en que el Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística –DANE– calcula el Déficit Cualitativo de Vivienda en Colombia. Esta se desarrolla a través de un estudio de caso, al cual se le aplica la metodología que usa el DANE. Los resultados que arroja esta aplicación son discutidos a la luz del marco de referencia alternativo al del DANE. Se concluye que el indicador que propone el DANE es limitado, pues excluye los aspectos culturales que configuran la habitabilidad de una vivienda.
