Abstract
Esta ponencia se centra en explorar cómo las movilidades están estrechamente relacionadas con subjetividades urbanas modernas, por medio de una lectura cultural e histórica de las relaciones entre espacio público y movilidades urbanas. Sintetiza algunos avances preliminares de la tesis de doctorado “Movilidades urbanas, espacio público y vida urbana en Bogotá y Barranquilla durante el proceso de urbanización de los años cincuenta y sesenta del siglo XX”. La ponencia presenta ejemplos de dos tipos de prácticas: las automovilidades y las peatonalidades, y cuestiona la hegemonía del concepto de ciudadanía liberal como la manera más apropiada para comprender las prácticas del espacio público en las ciudades modernas. Como ejemplos se presenta el análisis del caso de las reformas urbanas de la década de los años cincuenta para ampliar la Avenida Jiménez, y se discuten algunas de las representaciones del automóvil en la Bogotá de los años sesenta.
