Abstract
Desde la década de 1960, pero con mayor intensidad a partir de la década de 1980, laproducción agroindustrial de hortalizas ha tenido un comportamiento dinámico en Méxicoderivado de las ventajas comparativas que este país tiene para la venta de tales productos enel mercado de Estados Unidos de América durante la época invernal. Muchas regiones se hanincorporado en distintas épocas a la siembra de hortalizas, cuya producción agroindustrialorientada al mercado, ha ocasionado cambios trascendentes en los mercados laborales dezonas rurales. Esto es lo que ha sucedido en Sayula, Jalisco, donde la producción, primerode jitomate para el mercado en fresco y después de otras hortalizas (en particular el brócoli)para la agroindustria de precongelados, se ha desarrollado desde mediados de la década de1980. Entre tales cambios que se incluyen dentro de las estrategias competitivas de lasempresas, se encuentra la segmentación étnica, espacial y por género del mercado laboral.Cuadernos de Desarrollo Ruralis registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
