Abstract
El área rural de la cuenca lechera de Trancas, en la provincia de Tucumán,República Argentina, se caracteriza por ser un medio geográfico poco poblado, conun área bastante extensa, que ha basado su actividad económica en la ganaderíalechera y en la agricultura de forrajeras, granos y hortalizas.Nos proponemos analizar la dinámica de la población rural de este espacioseñalando su distribución, su organización y los procesos migratorios comoresultado de relaciones históricas, articulada a la cuestión de la tenencia de latierra. El estudio de la tenencia de la tierra supone hacer un examen de la situaciónjurídica de las propiedades y del tamaño de las unidades agrícola-ganaderas.Esta investigación se ha apoyado por una parte, en una revisión crítica de labibliografía y de la documentación relativa al marco geográfico, a la población ysu distribución, a la extensión de parcelas y a la producción lechera y agrícola, etc.,y por otra, en el trabajo de campo, que se cumplió a partir del empleo de técnicascualitativas.Cuadernos de Desarrollo Ruralis registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
