Abstract
En el trabajo planteamos que el surgimiento. consolidación y trasformaciólJ de cada tipo o institución de medianería está relacionado con diferentes formas de propiedad. mecanismos de mercado y/o tipos de intervención del Estado en varios períodos históricos y contextos físicos y sociales.
El trabajo también discute los límites. tanto del enfoque neoclásico como del marxista, para explicar la medianería. Se señala cómo cada enfoque. o un puente entre ambos, pudiera explicar diferentes tipos de medianería en cada contexto particular. Por lo tanto el trabajo busca mostrar la variabilidad de los contratos de medianería y presentar un posible marco teórico para su análisis. Con este marco esperamos poder reevaluar los análisis tradicionales sobre la medianería y clarificar las causas y la diversidad de formas institucionales que este fenómeno ha asumido en los Andes venezolanos
