Abstract
El propósito de este artículo es analizar los cambios en el imaginario colectivo sobre la ruralidad española desde 1940 hasta la actualidad. Para ello se utiliza una metodología histórico-sociológica que lleva a diferenciar tres fases en la evolución de ese imaginario. Tales fases son: 1) mitificación conservadora de la ruralidad; 2) menosprecio y valoración despectiva de lo rural; 3) presentes tendencias hacia la revalorización de los entornos rurales, acontecidas simultáneamente a la creciente consideración de estos como espacios para el ocio y el turismo de los urbanos. El estudio de estas transformaciones evidencia que el imaginario colectivo español sobre la ruralidad no es algo esencial, acontextual o atemporal, sino el producto de una construcción social cambiante social e históricamente.Cuadernos de Desarrollo Ruralis registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
