Abstract
Las concepciones del desarrollo rural se han ido modificandoen la medida en que se percibe la complejidady diversidad de la realidad y se evidencian las restriccionesy posibilidades de sus explicaciones y alcances.Por su parte las sociedades rurales han presentadocambios estructurales debidos, en buena parte, al modelode desarrollo global .Estos cambios hacen quetengamos que ver y analizar lo rural de diferentemanera y, en esta medida, que las definiciones yestrategias del desarrollo rural se adapten a dichasmodificaciones.En Colombia, como en otros países de América Latina,persisten situaciones estructurales que tienen impactoen los procesos de desarrollo rural, como la inequitativadistribución de la tenencia de la tierra, por ejemplo.Asimismo se presentan situaciones de tipo coyunturalque tienen profundo impacto en el diseño y aplicaciónde políticas de desarrollo rural. Tal es el caso de lasdiferentes formas de violencia, el narcotráfico y elfenómeno del desplazamiento de los pobladores delcampo, por tornar sólo algunos ejemplosCuadernos de Desarrollo Ruralis registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
