Abstract
A través de los siglos la piratería marítima ha afectado la navegación. Este problema,lejos de ser uno del pasado, es uno que en la actualidad genera pérdidas millonariastanto para los intereses de carga como para los armadores, sin mencionar además,el peligro que constituye para la tripulación. En la última década, este flagelo ha sidoampliamente discutido en escenarios especializados, ejemplo de esto es la decisióntomada por la Corte Suprema de Inglaterra tras el caso de la Motonave “Bunga MelatiDua”. A partir de este caso, en el cual se estudió la cobertura del seguro luego delsecuestro de la nave por parte de piratas somalíes, se hace un comparativo para revisarsegún la opinión del autor, qué desenlace hubiese tenido el mismo si hubiera ocurridobajo la luz de la ley colombiana.This journal is registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
