Abstract
The current Colombian insurance market is highly interconnected with the rest of the world. Consequently, millions of policies are currently marketed in the country that contain not only coverages, exclusions, and warranties, but also other types of terms known as 'conditions' and 'conditions precedent' to describe the insured's obligations. These terms lack any express regulation within the Colombian legal system. This article aims to explore the meaning of these contractual terms within their originating legal systems, with the goal of raising a discussion on how they should be interpreted in Colombia and proposing possible solutions to this issue.
