General Comments on the New Insurance Contract Law in Brazil

Abstract

This article aims to highlight the main provisions set forth in the Insurance Contract Law, recently enacted in Brazil. This law is the country's first specific legal framework on the subject, which until now had been regulated solely by a chapter within the section on contracts in the Civil Code. The article addresses the main changes in relation to the previous regulations that have now been repealed.
