Abstract

In 2001, the Center for Development Projects, Fedesarrollo and Family Foundation Health, dealed a research titled "Human resources in Colombia: balance, functions and prospective". Based on its findings, this article contains a reflection about two main subjects which concern to universities that are preparing professional nurses: curricula in Nursing and concerns about new careers in related areas.

The article emphasises about the necesity of re-leading proffesional nurses education and to consider carefully the opportunity for opening undergraduate programs in related careers, that could represent a threat for the proffesion continuity in a difficult environment.
