Abstract

The study sought to identify the factors to be considered in the construction of a prevention program for problem drinking in college, designed and implemented by stakeholders in the educational community of two private universities in Bogotá. Processes of qualitative and quantitative type were used in the various constituent elements of the program and the different phases: design, implementation and evaluation, with a central focus of student participation. The involved elements were: delimitation of the problem of drug use in college, strategic and operational structures of the program, assessment which included coverage, degree of risk to the consumption of alcohol, perceived need and acceptance, perceived impact regarding the problematic use by students and teachers. The program model was considered, by both educational communities, as an alternative for prevention efforts in alcohol consumption and it was highlighted the commitment that can result in students and teachers responding to a need and the incidence that can have in building a critical attitude to problem drinking and consumption behaviors.
