Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a cronic, deforming and incurable desease and it becomes daily a public health problem, since it changes absolutely the persons every daylife in all its dimensions. It is an alteration of metabolims, carbohidrates, and protein; it is produced by insulin defeaults in action or secretion. This alteration deteriorates progresivly the whole organism. It si also possible that it can be under control with an opportun and careful treatment that can be practiced by the person itself. Self care, that means and active participation of the sick person, is the necessary foundation that will allow the sick person to lead and active life free from different complications. This article emphasizes the treatment from the person itself with actions oriented to a good diet, and sportive practices regularly planned. Of course the medicins should be taken according to a medical prescription; complications should be prevented and one should practice regular diagnosis. This practices are totally oriented to make the sick person and autonomous person in this self care.
