Abstract
El artículo revisa el concepto de discapacidad y sus diferentes modalidades (deficiencia, discapacidad y minusvalía), provee una contextualización del ámbito colombiano e internacional, describe brevemente el marco histórico del problema y los diversos modelos que han servido como referente para el estudio de la discapacidad, introduciendo componentes de las ciencias jurídicas que nos ayudan a pensar en la evolución del concepto y evidenciar su heterogeneidad. A lo largo del artículo se presentan algunos de los marcos jurídicos nacionales e internacionales sobre esta problemática y se introduce el tema de los derechos de las personas con discapacidad.
