Abstract
The object of this article is to examine the museums of modern art as a field of research. The project of mapping the museums of art as cultural institutions has gained importance in recent years. The objective is to explain the relationship between museum, corporate patronage and cultural economic policies of a national and international nature. This is important sinche it is understood that museums of art are not only places in the middle of institutional chains but, on the contrary, they are one of the actors that shape societies.The journal Memoria y Sociedad is registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License. Thus, this work may be reproduced, distributed, and publicly shared in digital format, as long as the names of the authors and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana are acknowledged. Others are allowed to quote, adapt, transform, auto-archive, republish, and create based on this material, for any purpose (even commercial ones), provided the authorship is duly acknowledged, a link to the original work is provided, and it is specified if changes have been made.
