Abstract

This article explains, based on a solid quantitative study, the process of subdivision of the city into neighborhoods throughout the tweentieth century. In the author article, the neighborhood comes forward as the urban entity that welcomes, covers, and protects the inhabitants of the gigantic city. While everyone knows it (yet no one admits it), Bogota, one thousand times subdivided throughout the 20th century, could not be understood without the genesis of the neighborhood and its dynamic in its particular epoch.
