How to Cite
Abstract
In the introduction of this article, the author defines three fundamental aspects of the research:
1. The limited level of interest in the historiography for areas of slow incorporation to the economic structure of the country.
2. The make-up of the province of Neiva
3. The period of study being from 1778-1936
After a geographic description of the province, the author —based on statistical tables— studies the demographic process and occupational character of the region.

Thus, this work may be reproduced, distributed, and publicly shared in digital format, as long as the names of the authors and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana are acknowledged.
