Abstract

This article deals with the hermeneutics by which human beings, nature, the deeds and objects of the New World are interpreted. The article proposes the unveiling of the contents of a religious and cultural meta- narrative to decipher the keys through which men and women of colonial Hispanic America were designated as sinners and delinquents.
