Abstract

In this article the abolition of slavery in the New Granada is studied. In it a pursuit of the ways that followed the southern slaves of the new republican State to reach the liberty is done. Also the opposition of the dominant sectors is studied, particularly the mining sector and the landowner of the old Province of Popayan, to every measure that sought the liberty of the slaves denouncing that the freed did not take advantage that offered the republican system and that they would be dedicated to insurgent practices that would finish in the racial war.
