Abstract

This paper makes an attempt for reading then maritime and fluvial adventures' memoirs of some adventurers and mercenaries that were part of the feat of Independence next to Bolivar. This route allows us to show some liberation campaign enemies' notes, such as the military man Pablo Morillo, that offer an interesting geographical perspective. The reading of these memoirs makes it possible to rebuild some mystical ideas, as El Dorado — reference whereby this region was known during the colonial time—, and highlight the personal experience of narrators with the Orinoco river landscape and its rich connections.
