Abstract

This article summarizes some of the conclusions to which different social and academic movements have arrived over the last two decades on the issue of globalization and its implications; the mainstream model, based on the notions of “development” and “modernity”, has come to a head. Therefore, it is necessary to move forward in a cultural transition which we can understand as a change of era rather than a period of changes. In order to carry out this transformation we must first unravel the contradictions nowadays present between neo-developmentism and post-development, and to do so, of course, for the benefit of the latter.
