Abstract
In this article we deal with the debate, manifest in the printed press, concerning the pliable and accommodating use of figures and numbers during President Uribe’s administration. The vulnerability of the Colombian statistical system, subjected as it is to a policy which demands favorable figures, is proved via authorized opinions, and analyzed based on a theory of argumentation.
