Abstract
The social field of youth organizations in the Department of Atlántico, Colombia, is mainly composed of organizations that have been integrated into traditional institutions. However, their members seem to be reluctant to play the traditional role of citizens because they mistrust state actions and all established forms of citizen participation. Besides this resistance, alternative social subjects and citizenships seem to have emerged. It is difficult to characterize this social field due to the weak institutionalization of external relations among youth organizations. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to talk about the various social fields they belong to..
