La construcción de un mundo equitativo

Abstract

El presidente del Banco Mundial nos muestra las estrategias que este organismo internacional ha trazado para trasformar un mundo que en su globalización económica e informática pretende contraer las distancias mediante la virtualidad pero sigue multiplicando la pobreza real. Este combate no será ganado mientras no se tengan en cuenta valores como el de la implicación responsable, participativa y trasparente de todos, pero especialmente del llamado mundo desarrollado, para que 1.200 millones de personas que viven con menos de un dólar diario y 2.800 que viven con menos de dos dólares diarios puedan tener un ejercicio real de libertad al brindárseles los mínimos vitales: alimento, educación, oportunidades, salud, voz y capacidad de decidir por sí mismos.
