Abstract
El reciente documento de Santo Donúngo, cuando reflexiona sobre la rica experiencia pastoral del Episcopado latinoamericano, goza, en sus aciertos y hasta en sus insuficiencias, de un valor incuestionable para el trabajo teológico. Vamos a tomar como punto de partida de nuestra reflexión una característica de la vida eclesial de este continente, que no pasó desapercibida a los obispos y que consiste en la incoherencia entre fe y vida. Sobre ésta encontramos formulaciones bien claras. "Se comprueba, por tanto, que la mayor parte de los bautizados todavía no han tomado plena conciencia de su pertenencia a la Iglesia. Se sienten católicos, pero no Iglesia" (96). "A partir de la situación generalizada de muchos bautizados en América Latina, que no dieron su adhesión personal a Jesucristo por la primera conversión ... " (33). Afirmaciones que se aproximan a lo paradójico: ¡católicos, pero no Iglesia; bautizados, pero lejos de Jesucristo! La cuestión de fondo es seria de veras; ya había sido mencionada por Juan Pablo 11 (RM 33) Y enfatizada en Puebla (P 783).
