Abstract

La presencia de las sectas y nuevos movimientos religiosos no cristianos no sólo en Colombia y en América Latina, sino también en los países del tercer mundo es una realidad que no podemos desconocer.
Ya en 1981 Mr. Antonio Quarracino, entonces Secretario General del CELAM, afirmaba en su introducción al libro Sectas en América Latina: Cualquiera que en América Latina haya empleado algún tiempo en tareas ecuménicas y más aún si ha
transitado un poco su vasta geografía, no podrá menos de concluir que la Iglesia no
dio los pasos que hace algunos años se deseaba o presentía, en gran parte por la
presencia de las llamadas Sectas o grupos religiosos libres.
