Abstract
En estos últimos años, parece que emerge con fuerza en diversos ambientes sociales y religiosos la búsqueda de caminos de espiritualidad, meditación y oración. Ello ha permitido que el jesuita Anthony (fony)de Mello (Bombay, 1931- New York, 1987) se convirtiera en una figura religiosa bastante popular y conocida a través de sus libros y cursillos de espiritualidad l. Por otra parte, la pedagogía espiritual de Tony de Mello ha dado lugar a debates y posiciones contradictorias; hay quienes consideran que las doctrinas del padre Tony son una suerte de narcótico alienante que aleja de la realidad o de la fe de siempre; y también hay quienes proclaman que los caminos espirituales vividos y predicados por nuestro personaje son una verdadera gracia de Dios para nuestro tiempo y una alternativa de auténtica liberación personal y colectiva.
