Abstract

Cuando en enero de 1979 el Papa Juan Pablo II inauguraba la III Conferencia General del Episcopado Latinoamericano, expresaba su alegría y su esperanza en la proyección evangelizadora de esta asamblea, realizada bajo la mirada maternal de la Virgen María patrona de América. Luego, en la homilía pronunciada en la Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, imploraba de ella, el descenso del Espíritu que hiciera ver a la Iglesia los caminos de la evangelización que le permitieran hacer renacer en el continente nuevamente la fe.
