Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze whether Edmund Husserl’s early phenomenology is a favorable method for the Philosophy of Religion and Theology. One of the initial proposals that emerged in the circle of Göttingen was put forward by the Frenchman Jean Héring, a disciple of Husserl, with the work Phenomenology and Religious Philosophy. Studies on the Theory of Religious Consciousness, which in recent years seems to reactivate the problem of the theological turn. The questions that will outline this analysis are: ¿Is it possible to find in Husserl’s early phenomenology methodological implications of research for Theology? Is there a phenomenological foundation that somehow facilitates access to the divine? Is it possible to explain the phenomenology of revelation from the religious phenomenology of Héring and Max Scheler? By means of a bibliographical review, we will investigate the phenomenological bases of religious Philosophy and Theology. Among the conclusions obtained, we can say that Héring clarifies phenomenologically the eidetic structure of the religious phenomenon, just as Max Scheler knows that any reflection on the sacred, whether metaphysical or theological, is insufficient. The phenomenological method allows these two thinkers to deal with the theme of divine transcendence and revelation.
