Abstract
It identifies the Lukan theological characteristics in the episode of the repented thief (Lk 23, 39-43) based on the analysis of the organization of the Passion in Luke and the narrative and rhetoric approach. The position of the dialogue with the repented thief in the Passion narrative evidences eschatological features of salvation. Justice and mercy are correlative topics in the pericope, that are related to the forgiveness of sinners. This justice surpasses retributive justice, an acknowledged datum in Jesus’ promise: “Today shall thou be with me in paradise” (Lk23, 43).
