Abstract

The study of the characteristics of family celebration in current Judaism, evidences the great wealth, creativity, and dynamism of Jewish families in strengthening their identity and celebrating their faith. Judaism, without its Temple, committed itself to the family as the new center of its cultic life and found the key to survival in the complement between the synagogue and the household. The Jewish model, reasonably viewed, may be the source of inspiration for Christianism, which throughout the centuries, moved away from the household, enclosed itself in temples and blurred the common priesthood of the faithful in the cultic life.
