Abstract
Starting from the consideration of the Eucharist as «light and life of the new millennium», this paper points out some present challenges to be illuminated from the Eucharistic Mystery. It has three parts: (1) The urgency of not forgetting the «last ones» of history, through an effort in building a just and fraternal world; (2) the real living of Eucharistic «communion» in different aspects such as, the recovery of the human being in its integrity, the appraisal of cultures, the religious pluralism and the ecological awareness; and (3) the engagement in the emergency of woman in society and in the Church. No intent is done to carry on an exhaustive reflection on each of these subjects, but it wants to stress the urgency of making significant the Eucharistic life in the present
