Abstract
The purpose of this article is to understand the «Consultorio Jurídico» (legal aid) in Fredonia (Antioquia) as a place in the Colombian  countryside, where citizenship depends on a combination of holistic and individualistic traditional elements. Law students emphasize a citizenship model focused on values such equality and dignity, while among users complaints related to a typical peasant hierarchy prevail. This is a region where an ideology linked to a specific agrarian structure operates, and where values such as honor and sworn-word are praised. Based on this case, we try to show that there are several ways of practicing citizenship in which elements of individualism and holism combine, where one is both a social character and an individual, and where it is possible to address the issue of a definitive transition from the world of honor to the world of dignity.
