Abstract
Durante el Tercer Congreso de Profesores de Español y Literatura, celebrado en Ibagué en el año de 1970, presentó el, doctor Carlos Patino Roselli una excelente ponencia con el título de Lingüística estructural y gramática española. En ella se mostraba decidido partidario de que la enseñanza de, esta materia en la Universidad, y por reflejo en el Bachillerato, siguiera rumbos estructuralistas "particularmente en el sentido de ofrecer descripciones formales rigurosas de nuestra lengua". Esto sin perjuicio de que en las clases de Lingüística General que se dictan comúnmente en las Universidades colombianas se diera a la corriente generativa toda la atención que merece "como modelo científico diferente del estructuralismo".
