Abstract
Este texto nos muestra el nacimiento del federalismo en Colombia en los años 1811 a 1816. En esta etapa se presentó un choque entre Cartagena y Bogotá, por la supremacía política y comercial de la república. Posteriormente el artículo hace un estudio sobre el régimen de Bogotá bajo el último período de organización federal, que hemos tenido, que se inició a mediados del siglo XIX y que terminó en 1886. En esta época, nuestra capital tuvo una organización totalmente diversa a la de las otras ciudades capitales del país, funcionando como un distrito federal, de acuerdo a las influencias de Norteamérica, México y Argentina.
