Abstract
This work aims to make visible the violence that women who make the decision to become mothers in Colombia go through, highlighting that the feminist movement has not centralized in its agenda the need to name these violences and demand the protection of mothers. The violence that women go through during the process of becoming mothers is then described, placing particular emphasis on the challenge of reconciling the job of mothering and performing a formal job. Consequently, it explores how there is an overload on women, fostered by historical and patriarchal stereotypes in care work, and how there is a lack of strategies of governmental and cultural origin that support the conciliation process. The impossibility of a conciliation seeking care for the mother's physical and psychological health results in an unsatisfactory experience for the woman who cannot fully realize herself in any of her facets. At the end, some examples of initiatives that have sought to respond to the violence described are explored and the feminist agenda is urged to centralize within its demands the gender violence suffered by women who decide to be mothers.
