Abstract
The purpose of this anide is to show that liberalism is not really opposed to solidarity but rather, solidarity is made possible as a consequence of basic principies of liberalism. Here i build up an imaginary situation. in which the denial of rights of certain minority groups is illustrated. I try to point out, that there does exist a direct connection between individual rights and problems generated by international solidarity. This is also reflected in the protection of collective rights. Although, it is recognised that there can be genuine dilemmas between moral obligations and prívate commitments in a liberal society, I argue that liberalism can provide a coherent framework for mutual recognition, which does not ignore solidarity acting as a moral consequence.
