Abstract

This paper aims to briefly show the philosophical problem that bases the main thesis of German philosopher Markus Gabriel, i.e., the world does not exist or, otherwise, it is not possible to conceive a fullness of reality nor a cross element of whole reality. This problem begins with the main ontological question: What is there? This question is at once; what does it mean to exist? The analysis of the notion of existence will show: 1) this cannot be an authentic property because it does not allow to individualize and to distinguish objects; 2) hence, there cannot be a total definition of ‘existence’ whereby, there cannot be a scope of objects with only this feature. The impossibility of this total scope will show that no fullness of reality exists or is conceivable at all.
